Shelterbelt Hey Ice Machine w/ Richard Davies of The Moles / Cardinal – May 10, 2012

This is shaping up to be something special. We are pretty honored to share the stage with The Great Australian Popsmith, Richard Davies. Also on the bill are a pretty great band from Vermont called Happy Jawbone Family Band.  The show is being presented by our friends at B.O.W Shows and Boston Hasslewho consistently put together some of the best nights of music all over the city. Check out their blog for anything and everything awesome going on in Boston.
The show is going down at The Plough and Stars in Cambridge. You won’t wanna miss this one, its gonna be great! Check the details below:

Harvard Square Mayfair Festival and More!

We are excited to have been invited to play at this years annual Mayfair Festival in Harvard Sq, taking place on Sunday May 6, 2012. We will be kicking off the entertainment right at 12:00 (Noon) from the Main Stage, and are pretty psyched for what should be a great day for live music. The Mayfair Festival is on its 29th year and keeps getting bigger and better! In addition to the six stages of live music and dance, Mayfair features more than 200 artisans and merchants with tents displaying handmade clothing, art, jewelry and much more.
In addition we are also heading over to Andy and Jen’s new house to take part in the Band In Boston Flophouse Sessions on May 19, 2012. If you haven’t heard of this, you are missing out on some pretty amazing “stripped-down semi-acoustic performances from some of the best bands from Boston and beyond.” Go to their page and see all the great acts who have taken part in their podcast over the years. We can’t wait to check out their new digs and record some tunes!

Shelterbelt Hey Ice Machine at Middle East w/ Waylon Speed – April 25, 2012

April just so happens to be a very busy month for us, highlighted by our show with Waylon Speed on April 25 at The Middle East. The Burlington VT natives have made a solid name for themselves since their formation in 2009 and have shown no signs of stopping anytime soon. “The press has called Waylon Speed “gas on the fire of the current music scene” and “heavy, fiery country rock, for those who like their punk rock with some twang in it – but also appreciate high quality, intelligent songwriting.”
The band is touring around New England in support of their new album “Valance” which you can get a sampling of on their website or in this short promotion on Youtube. The band has shared the stage with Jane’s Addiction, Clutch, Little Feat, Reba McEntire, Elvis Costello, Primus, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals among many other great names in the business.
In addition, we are heading into the studio to put the finishing touches on the album and get it ready to release in a few months.  We can’t really put into words how excited we are about these songs, and think you’re gonna dig them as well. We are working with some pretty talented individuals who we will keep secret for now! See you at the show!

Hey Ice Machine at TT The Bears w/ Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors

We are excited to share the stage with Nashville rockers Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors. The band started in 2006 and has toured the country extensively garnishing a massive following and selling over 35,000 records all without the help of a record label. Their music has been played all over national TV and they have shared the stage with bands like Susan Tedeschi, Ryan Adams,  Los Lobos, Jon McLaughlin, The Avett Brothers, Robert Earl Keen, and Marc Broussard.
The band heads out to begin its first Northeast Headlining tour and asked us to join them in Boston. They are touring in support of their album “Chasing Someday” which has been met with critical acclaim and has steadily grown their fan base.
We will be kicking off the night at 8:30pm at TT the Bears in Cambridge, MA.

Shelterbelt Hey Ice Machine at Northeastern University and Studio Tracking

Our drummer Jonathan returns home to his Alma Mater Northeastern University for a Presidents Day celebration with some great local bands. Joining us on the bill is the multi-instrumentalist Audrey Ryan. The “folk songstress” is well known around the Boston music scene for her “one-man-band” shows in which she combines anything from electric guitar, drums, banjo to ukulele, vibraphone and glockenspeil. You can listen or pick up an album here. Audrey also hosts loft showsat her place featuring some pretty great local and national acts. We are thrilled to take part in one these shows on May 24, 2012.

The Northeastern show will be held at their on-campus venue AfterHOURS and kicks off early starting at 8:00PM, also its FREE!!!!In addition, We started tracking tunes for the new album due out later this year. We enlisted the help of our good friend Dan Hallas to engineer a handful of sessions in which we plan on putting down 10-12 songs. Dan is a tremendously talented sound engineer who has worked as front of house and tour manager for artists including POD, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Lori Mckenna, Sam Phillips and Junkie XL as well as many others. Over the last few years he has been working as tour manager and artist production manager for Esperanza Spalding as she continues to take the world by storm following her Grammy win last year.
